Staying Hydrated with Infused Water
Water is one of the most important elements in life ( it pretty much goes toe to toe with air/oxygen). Our very bodies are made up of ⅔ water. Drinking water regularly is vital to our health and diet. Without water our most important bodily functions will not be possible. Functions like digestion, body temperature regulation, food absorption, blood circulation, removal of toxins and nutrient/oxygen transportation would be seriously compromised if we did not consume water everyday. And I didn't even mention the wonders water does for joints, organs and tissues.
Living in the Florida heat, I understand first hand how important it is to stay hydrated. Many times we see people that don’t know the importance of drinking water. Unfortunately, sooner or later they suffer from dehydration due to the blistering temperatures we tend to experience during summer.
Water is also extremely helpful and important in aiding any weight loss efforts and maintaining overall health. It is recommended that we drink at least half our body’s weight in ounces a day. For example, if you weigh 150 lbs. you should drink 75 oz. of water daily. Pretty simple right? Then why are most adults dehydrated? Ok, I must admit, even though I absolutely love drinking a nice cold glass of water, sometimes I am in the mood for something different. So this is where I fall. I turn to juice, or even worse, soda. Which I am so ashamed to admit. But sometimes water can be sooooo boring. Luckily, I came across an article on Infused Water. Maybe this is what I needed. Along with anyone one who just needs to add a little umph to their water. I have heard of infusing your water before, but I have yet to try it.

One of the benefits of fruit infused water is that it contains little to no calories. And, you get the added benefits from the nutrients that are in the fruit and vegetables being used. So no guilt whatsoever. There are different ways you can infuse fruit/veggies into your water. (1)You can freeze the fruits and or veggies into ice cubes and add that to your water. (2) You can purchase an infuser bottle that lets you put the fruit/veggies in the middle of a container filled with water, or (3) You can mash the ingredients of your choice in a cup, fill with ice and water. Give it a good shake and pour into a glass. This method may remind you of that time you ordered that mojito at the bar. Same concept with the muddling of the lime and mint.
Here are some combinations I found that sound good. Let me know what you think. I cannot wait to give these a try:
1) Orange and Pineapple
2) Cherry, Mint and Lime
3) Watermelon and Cucumber
4) Pineapple and Mint
5) Mango and Lime
